Miguel's Surf Perch at La Conchita Beach
Jul 29th, 2010, 10:42pm

I went out with Miguel, who was in the 2009 SBFF Youth Academy, to do some fishing in the ocean. His grandmother had helped him get a surf rod set up from Eric's Artful Angler.

He has become a proficient fly fisher. I was impressed with his ability to handle a sink tip line. The conditions were rough when we got to the beach at 5:30. There was wind and lots of surf chop.

I caught one dink and Miguel got a nice perch.  I considered us lucky to get anything in those conditions.
