Mammoth area

Tyler, his dad, grandpa, and I just got back from our annual trip to Mammoth and the surrounding waters. We fished Mamie and Upper Twin Lake, Hot Creek, Silver Lake, Rush Creek, Starkweather, Sotcher, and the San Joaquin. We also tubed big Virginia lake with some success near the waterfall. We did well on Mamie in float tubes as well as on Silver, while Rush Creek and the San Joaquin produced small fish willing to take attractor nymphs on a decent drift. Starkweather and Sotcher were a disappointment compared to last year, but Hot Creek fished well in the evening.
Thunderstorms made things uncomfortable at times with rain and close lightning bolts, but overall they didn't hamper the fishing too much. The rain may have even helped us at Hot Creek.

You guys have become such good fly fishermen!!
Thank you for the post.
I took Miguel (SBFF Academy in 2009) to La Conchita the other day. He got a nice Barred Surf Perch in very tough conditions, (big wind and lots of surf), but he fished like a pro.
I have enjoyed seeing you put pressure on those beautiful fish.
Keep on fishing!!!
