Mudsnails In Piru Creek(Posted by Lew)
Feb 27th, 2006, 11:32am
Got some bad news...the Wild Trout crew has confirmed the presence of NZMS in lower Piru Creek below Pyramid Dam.  This is the first confirmed presence of the snails in Southern California.  The crew is planning to survey the West Fork & East Fork of the San Gabriel and Deep Creek this week.  I hope we can work with the FRVC, USFS, and associated FFF clubs to help stop the spread of these critters through education and more surveys.  If the FRVC is interested in working with the DFG on outreach issues please feel free to contact me.  I will update you as things progress and wish I had better news.  On a side note; Dave Lentz and I are planning on having a Wild & Heritage Trout booth at the Ontario FF Show, so I hope to see you guys there.
