Save Piru Creek Petition
Feb 15th, 2006, 9:06am
Posted for: Jim Blomquist - Friends of the River
Plans are underway to circulate a petition against the state's plans to
dewater Piru Creek at two upcoming fishing shows here in Southern
California.  These shows are in Ontario on February 25th & 26th and in
Long Beach on March 3rd-5th.
The Long Beach Casting Club has a booth at the show (other Club's may have
one, as well) and will be having it's volunteers asking people to sign the
petition.  This is a wonderful opportunity to get thousands of anglers on
record against the state's plans.
I have attached a copy of the petition to this message, as well as a
poster we will be displaying at the booth.
What we need is a few volunteers who are willing to spend some time at the
show talking with fellow anglers and asking them to sign the petition.
The Long Beach Casting Club booth needs two additional volunteers to take
charge of this activity.  Can I ask those of you in Clubs to canvas your
members to see who will be attending and if they would be willing to take
a shift as a Piru Creek volunteer.
If you are with a Club with a booth, would you be willing to take some
petitions and a poster and collect signatures against the dewatering of
Piru Creek as a part of your activities at the show.
The first show is coming up in 10 days.  It runs from about 9A-5P on
Saturday and Sunday.  Can we get four volunteers to each sign up to a
half-day shift for Save Piru Creek?
Please give me a call and tell me how you and your Club can help in this
Thanks so much for all your help,  JB
