Surf Fishing Report
Feb 1st, 2014, 9:41pm

Wednesday I fished at Carpenteria beach with a friend Ray. We stared out at the end of Linden Ave.
We fished out way up to the Carpenteria slough. The water was clear and there was not too much wind.
The beach is flat for 100 yards out from the high tide water line.

The week before we had big waves for four days. I was hoping it would tear up the sand a bit so we would have pockets, holes, and troughs for fish to hold in. That did not happen.

Three hours of fishing and we did not even get a bump.

On Friday I fished with Alan. We fished La Conchita Beach. The wind was blowing a steady 15 knots. No gusts, no changes, just a steady wind in your face. The wind waves were significant, as flyfishing goes. We fished for two hours and got beat up pretty bad. Allan hooked one fish and I got one bump. Nothing to hand.

I hope things improve as we move into Feburary.

Epic winds for flying hang gliders along the Rincon perhaps not so good for fly fishing. Giver a couple weeks and we will see some good fising in the suds for sure.    LEW
