Best trip of the year thus far
Sep 20th, 2013, 7:29am

A few days ago we took a short drive to lower Holland Lake in the Swan Valley near Big Fork Montana. The following morning we saddled up the horses and took a 6.5 mile ride up a narrow steep trail into upper Holland lake. A medium size alpine jewel. The lake was flat calm and fish were rising everywhere. We only had a couple hours to fish before heading back down and fish we did. It really didn't matter what you tied on so long as it was a dry and barbless. Non stop action on cutts from 9 to 13." W e had the lake to ourselves. Sadly, with dusk approaching, we packed the rods and headed back down. Good times.

Snow is earlier than expected. The mission range is already capped and we have snow on the valley floor in the SW. 35 deg this morning but were supposed to have a few warm days ahead this week. I've spent the past few days cutting back the landscape getting ready for winter. Spouse and I are snowbirding out this year. Heading to SB October 22. We will be calling Cachuma home from Nov 1st till spring thaw.
