Inland water MLPAs?
Nov 10th, 2011, 11:22pm

  Hi Guys
Does anyone know if the MPAs exist for the inland waters as well as the ocean? Could we see an effort to spread the MLPA application to inland waters?

Apples and oranges and it seems that we are not allowed to pick either at times.   LEW

The MLPAs try to create a static boundary protecting a fluid entity with no real possibility of enforcement--we will how that works out.  Please let's not spread it.  The Federal Endangered Act seems to be quite enough of regulation  and is about to shut down all fishing in local streams, including catch and release.  Watch for the Nov 16th meeting where the shut-down is on the agenda of the Calif. Fish & Game Commission.  What are you really asking Bodfish? And, I do not get the apples and oranges comment.

  Hey guys,
I suppose apples and oranges may mean that a MPA is exclusively about salt water. What I am worried about is, as the federal law is written is there a possibility the MPA,s could be applied to inland waters?

Probably best to bring that question to someone more quailfied, like an environmental lawyer.  You could get on the Trout Unlimited website and pose the quetion to their legal staff.
