Sandspit Smelt
Feb 12th, 2011, 5:54pm

I fished the sandspit with Tyler yesterday where we caught four smelt on checkerboard patterns. I don't know if the fish were schooling but the hits came in spurts.

We had our best luck casting towards the shore, parallel to the wharf. This was my first time fishing the surf in a while so it was nice to get out there and find some fish. Go check it out

Glad to hear you were out there catching fish.

Your description sounds like the typical day at the Spit.

Slow but a few fish are around.
