Kern River High
Jun 27th, 2010, 5:53pm

When the the Kern River near Kernville is running high, crowded with rafts, the weather is hot and the fishing is limited to fewer areas it's nice to get up into the high country.

This is not snow, it's a mayfly swarm on a little creek:

Here's a closeup:

Here's a brown:

Here's a golden:

Not monster fish but so many and so willing to attack a dry!

Joe,

Thanks for the report.

I fished the beaches around Santa Cruz over the weekend and I could not buy a fish.

The carp fishing looks fun as well.

The city or the island?

You should have gone on the DFG work project this last weekend. You could have fished some of the high country waters. I went up before the weekend but I'm sure they had some great fishing after they got the work done. Did Lew go or is he still in Mexico?
