Mammoth Area
Mar 25th, 2010, 10:44pm

I'm headed up to Mammoth next week for spring break and I'm planning on getting some well needed trout on the trip. Any recommendations for this time of year?

I'm basically limited to Hot Creek and the Upper and Lower Owens and the local reports haven't changed in weeks so I'm not 100% sure on which spot is my best bet. If anyone's fished the area recently it could help

Thanks
Johnny

Surf to SY,

See if the fish are moving up McGee Creek from the lake.  There is a parking lot several mile up from the lake entrance. You will see a parking area, horse pens, and a farm house. It is a public parking area. Walk toward the lake and you will see the creek.

It may be a little early but things may get started.

The Lower Owens is always a good bet.

Good luck.

NOTE:

McGee creek is closed until the season opens on the last Saturday in April!
