What can I expect on the Santa Ynez over Easter?
Feb 28th, 2010, 10:32am

I'm going to be visiting the area over easter (April 4th) and I was wondering what the Santa Ynez is going to be like that time of year?

Do they stock trout that time of year?

What type of patterns would you suggest?

Is this a good place that I could take a kid along? I'm visiting some family out there and it would be fun to show my cousin's 8 year old boy how to fly fish.

Any tips would be appreciated!

Thanks

They have as yet to stock.  I fear that they will not right now. Check out the conservation board for a link to what is going on along these lines.  I grew up in the sixties fishing the river every year.  I have grown to distain it for the very reason of what is manifested now.  A beautiful fishy place with no real fish just some idiotic process covering the pain of a lost heritage.  The last shread of that heritage was that it is(was?) such a wonderful place to learn.  LEW

I feel the stocking of the Santa Ynez will not happen this year.

If you have time to drive a few hours, the Kern River is a good bet.

Check out the post of my recent trip.
