eyes for flies

I am tieing up a few flies for the trip. Typically, i use lead or brass eyes for back east. but in looking at some photos of flies used by guys out there I am seeing a lot of bead chain.

does it make a difference? Where would you use bead chain eyes and where or when would you use lead eyes.

I use both. Bead chain makes a lighter fly than dumbbell eyes. Use the bead chain where you don't want a heavier fly.
