Pool Hopping
Jun 6th, 2009, 8:05pm

Joseph and I had a fun day going from pool to pool today at the Santa Ynez.
It began very hot but the clouds quickly rolled in to give us a respite from the heat. Bluegill and smallies were readily hitting different nymphs one after another.

We would take many fish from each hole before moving on to the next, basically just exploring the area now that the river's pretty dry. Joseph caught his first of many fish on his nice new 2 wt. Orvis rod.

Some of the bigger holes held cruising schools of carp but we were unsuccessful targeting them. Hopefully the river level stays high enough to support fishing for at least a few more weeks.  undecided

Johnny,

Thank you for the post and the pictures.

Rita, (my sweetie), won the Orvis rod at the Fund Raiser in March.  It had been donated by Cisto for the silent auction.  What a nice little rod.  It is 8.5 ft. long so it will throw line 60 ft. Not bad for a 2 wt.

Cisto, Thanks for the chance to buy a great used rod.

Rita, I love you!

Johnny, Thanks for the river adventure.

Joseph
