Title: Kern is fishing great, lot of big fish!
Post by Forum Admin on Mar 4th, 2011, 5:20pm

Yesterday Peter Piconi, owner of So Cal Fly Fishing Outfitters in San Diego, took a break from a speaking tour to come up to the Kern and wet a line. The flows had come up to a little over 1100 ft from some recent rain the water had a slight tea color. Peter and I headed out and he soon had this really nice looking Rainbow in hand:

look at the quality of the fins and tail:

There's a lot of big fish in the river. The flows are coming down again and the weather is perfect. The fishing should be getting better every day and it's great now!

Looking real good up that way.....this one of those gentle giant winters for sure!   Lower the flow of bills into my mail box and maybe I can take a Friday off to come up.    LEW
