Title: A Little Fish Porn From Washington
Post by ryan15 on Sep 21st, 2010, 10:52am

Hello All,

Went up to Washington State a couple of weeks ago to visit family and to take a small fishing trip to the Klickitat River with my little brother. We fished for three days and were mostly nymphing using large stones, egg patterns and prince nymphs. I was skunked the first day while my brother hooked up with three. The next day I hooked what I believe was a King. This conclusion is arrived at due to the thorough butt kicking I received, I could not even slow him down and before I knew it the infamous "tink" of being broken off occurred. On the final day I hooked and landed three, seen below, perhaps the best day of my life. As an aside, I had planned to swing on my new Winston switch rod but it broke within 10 casts the first day, apparently I had chipped the graphite while practicing my spey casts the previous week. My heart broke along with it.

My first fish and steelhead of life. Fish of 10,000 casts is right. This guy ran straight up stream.

This was my second and possibly the favorite due to its multiple long runs and aerial acrobatics. It was a hatchery fish and had an
elastomer tag next to its dorsal fin. The Yakama tribe is extremely proactive a maintaining this run of fish while trying to strengthen the wild strain of fish.

This was my final fish taken on the final run of the final day of fishing. It was also the strongest fish, I thought it might be a small king until I saw its red band.

All fished were released. Can't wait to get to another steelhead river. Thinking Trinity in a month or so.

Too bad about your rod.  That must have been quite a chip.  Most of my rods are all nicked up due to poor casting technique, but I've never had one break like that.  Nice steelies!  That should take some of the sting out of breaking a rod.  That last one pictured is just perfect.  Congrads.
