Post by marklsell on Mar 30th, 2010, 12:27pm

Is Los Carneros an ok place to practice float tubeing? I have read there were fish in it a few years back.Im pretty new to fly fishing and am looking for good places in SB county to get better.

Since the Quagga mussel's appearance, it's been hard to float tube in Southern California.

Los Carneros can be a fun place to fish and holds some decent Bass. I'm not saying it's perfectly all right to float tube but it has been done.

Another place you might consider is the Harbor. You often see people float tubing there; also some beaches although the Harbor is more like a lake as far as launching and landing. You should exercise extreme caution when launching or landing in any area with surf, even small surf as conditions can change in a short time.

It's always a good practice to wear a life jacket on any body of water. Make sure you are highly visible to watercraft and carry a whistle or horn.
