Title: How does Koch's resignation effect the fishery?
Post by Forum Admin on Oct 26th, 2009, 12:30pm

So what impact will this have on things like the MLPA, lack of Wardens, etc. ?

Donald Koch, the director of California's Department of Fish & Game has resigned. His last day will be Nov. 1st. Koch held the position since being appointed by Gov. Schwarzenegger in April of 2008. This came 5 days after a meeting was requested by Assemblyman Pedro Nava to discuss a controversial killing of a black bear in Ojai by a warden and to discuss department policy in such matters. Here's an article:

Good question.  The buzz I've heard from some organizations has been less than encouraging about him, but I suppose that is to be expected about any director.

One thing that concerns me is the position is appointed by the Governor. It seems Schwarzenegger's position has been water = $ so, screw the fish. I'm sure he wants to appoint someone that would help him in projects like stealing water from the Delta to profit from developments. I'm anxious to see who he'll appoint, could be someon that those organizations will like even less.

Nothing....because that is what he has done...nothing.  He will not speak out because he has been let off the bus driven by the bozos with a nice cush for his oversized bottom which he has been sitting on his whole tenure.  Just more of the same and Koch's name won't be on it ...that's all.   Dude.... hope he does not trip on his oversized feet getting off the bus less he land on his big red nose.
