Title: What's with this Rocky Mountain Recreation Company
Post by Forum Admin on Jan 21st, 2008, 8:22pm

I thought the Rocky Mountain Recreation Company was contracted to collect fees for camp sites and parking. Why are they closing Paradise Road and telling people there is going to be a release of water (which doesn't happen anyway) from the dam? Is the road, or the dam, any of their business? Isn't the road part of a National Recreation Area? Isn't that under the jurisdiction of the Forest Service and isn't it their responsiblity to make the area and the road availabe for recreation?

What's up?   >:(

I for the most part agree with you Joe!   Rocky Mountian has no other authority than to administer their facilites.  If the road is passable then they can not restrict your access. They can report you to the enforcement end of the forsest service for being a nuisance or putting yourself at risk or parking illegally.  There was a release of water but it did not have much effect. It is there responsibilty to provide you with safe recreation as well as it's availability.

What do you expect for a place where they put fish for you catch that would not be there otherwise. It's all homogenised.          >:(         LEW
