Title: Kern River Report
Post by Forum Admin on Feb 17th, 2006, 6:53pm

Just received this from Guy Jeans:

Hello friends and anglers

We just wanted to pass along some inf0 on the Lower Kern River and how well it is fishing. The lower river is a tail water fishery with 4 differnt sections with  4 different flows typically fished in the winter. The rainbows on the lower river are gorging themselves on crayfish, shad and various  insects and are getting extremely large. 2-5lb fish are very common on the lower and you can catch other species as well, such as Small Mouth  and Large Mouth Bass.Typical flies we are using: Kern Emergers12 , White Zonkers 10, Ziwi size 6. Water temperatures are holding around 45- 50 degrees on the lower river,  keeping the fishing in the lower river very consistent. Here are a few photos of the fish we are catching on the lower Kern River.
